TROPICAL WASTE NYE W/ MURLO, THROWING SHADE, RUSHMORE B2B AKITO, HIPSTERS DON’T DANCE, IYDES B2B SEB
Ringing in 2016 with the best new club music going
The tenth Tropical Waste party will take place on New Year’s Eve. It’s the biggest night of the year but things will remain the same down in the basement: normal bar prices, usual warm atmosphere and the best new club music going.
Ticket prices are a little higher for this one because we’ve put together a big line-up for a small room. We’re not creaming it, we just want to throw the nicest party possible. Let’s go…
You all know about Murlo. He’s an ingenious producer and white-hot DJ and he drops into the basement right after the release of ‘Odyssey’, an eight-track EP for Mixpak. It’s his best work yet and he’ll close out the year by bringing Tropical Waste to boiling point.
THROWING SHADE (NO PAIN IN POP)
Throwing Shade also used ’15 to release some of her best music. The ‘Fate Xclusive’ EP landed midway through the year and was a dose of the sensual, cosmic electronic pop that has become her signature. She plays Tropical Waste for a second time, swooping in to deploy one of her really-fucking-fun club sets.
RUSHMORE B2B AKITO (TRAX COUTURE/SANS ABSENCE)
Rushmore’s been at it over the last 12 months. The House Of Trax party that he co-runs with Fools is one of the best functions in LDN and his Trax Couture imprint has released one EP a month from on-point new producers such as Grovestreet, Imaabs and tonight’s sparring partner, Akito. The Sans Absence boss has had an equally busy year, using shows on NTS and Radar to prove that he’s one of the tightest DJs out as well as preparing two new EPs for release in early ’16. Full power showdown guaranteed.
HIPSTERS DON’T DANCE (RADAR RADIO)
2015 marks five years of parties for Hipsters Don’t Dance. The function is one of the best places to go to hear dancehall, afrobeats, soca, rap and r’n’b in London and counts Murlo, Brackles and the Swing Ting boys as DJs who regularly pass through. Organisers Inie and Karen are a seriously on-point duo in their own right and their sets always have us begging for IDs.
IYDES B2B SEB (NTS)
As ever, Tropical Waste residents Iydes and Seb unleash visceral bump ‘n grind on the basement. Albeit armed with confetti canons this time round.
